Kympin Lapset supports children and young people diagnosed with cancer or serious blood disorders, as well as their families.

Our mission is to strengthen the psychological, physical, and social well-being of children with cancer and their families during a difficult time. We also provide support in situations where a child has passed away due to cancer.

We organize peer support groups, activities, and recreational events for families of pediatric cancer patients both in Helsinki and online. A key part of our operations is Kuortinkartano, where we host year-round holiday weekends, camps, and retreats tailored for children and young people with cancer and their families. Kuortinkartano is easily accessible from all over Finland, and during our events, the entire estate is reserved exclusively for patient families. Learn more about Kuortinkartano.

Support During and After Serious Illness

Each year, approximately 160 children or young people in Finland are diagnosed with cancer. Around 2,000 participants take part in Kympin Lapset’s activities annually. We are the largest organization in Finland providing support services for families of children with cancer.

We support children undergoing treatment, those who have completed treatment, and their families by offering activities that promote psychological, social, and physical well-being. Our work emphasizes a family-centered approach—when a child becomes ill, the entire family and their daily life are affected.

Sharing experiences with others who understand makes it easier to express worries and grief, but also joy and hope for the future.
